 DARE TO BE BARE

Herald newpaper article

Good to see the Herald, published in the Newcastle area telling folks about Maitland Bay, on the NSW Central Coast.

The  idea of a naturist club on the Central Coast of NSW became a reality after Gilbert advertised in the Sun and Health Magazine. The editors of the magazine were extremely helpful and without their support the club would have had difficulty in its beginnings.

It was a cold, wet and miserable day when a few brave souls who had read Gilbert's advertisement got together with Gilbert at a reserve in Gosford. The meeting was also attended by the President of the Sydney Sun and Social Club whose input has been invaluable.

Greg, Ray, Bob and Gilbert became the first committee members and it was due to their dedication and hard work that really got the club off to a good start. The club commenced operation with the first swim night on the second Saturday in November 2001 and was registered with the Department of Fair Trading as an Incorporated Association on the 26th August 2002. At that point in time the club boasted a membership of 50 and has continued to grow.

In November 2002 the club hosted it's first Annual General Meeting, where seven members were elected to the committee, which comprised the four original members and three new members. The Club continues to investigate ways of expanding from just a Swim Night and the purchase of our own club merchandise. The centre in which our Swim Club is situated does not permit us to hold a great variety of activities with the exception of swimming, playing cards and chess table tennis etc.

Any ideas from members and visitors on the type of activities they would like, ideas for club logos to be printed on the merchandise etc. would be greatly appreciated by placing their ideas in the suggestion box at the swim nights or by emailing the club at coastandvalley@hotmail.com or by writing to the Secretary, CAVN PO Box 4039 East Gosford NSW 2250 or telephone 0418 962 140.

Our club is affiliated with the Australian Nudist Federation and is dedicated to the Naturist/Nudist movement and encourages couples, families and singles to our club.

Being a clothes optional club also makes it attractive to first timers who may be a little shy. It is an excellent opportunity to get nude and socialise with fellow nudists. You will feel very comfortable at our club with a friendly atmosphere and you will find the visit was worth it.
